CAVとは
CAVとは、トマティスメソッドの発声コースのことです。トマティスはフランス生まれですので、フランス語のCours de Audio Vocalの頭文字をとり、CAV（カーブ）と呼ばれています。
CAVを受講すると聴覚トレーニングで使用する電子耳から自立し、自分で作った高品質な声で脳にエネルギーを送り、「自立・ リラクゼーション・ エネルギー充電（高周波音）」を自分の声で実現することができるようになります。
聴くことから始まる発声法
CAVは、トマティスの聴覚トレーニングを修了した方を対象に行われます。なぜならば、コース名にAudio（フランス語で「聴く」の意味）が入っている通り、発声を学ぶコースでありながら、「聴く」ことが最大のポイントになっているからです。トマティス理論の３法則のひとつ「人間は聴き取る音のみ再生できる」がここでも要となっているのです。ですので、聴覚トレーニングで、“必要な音を正しく「聴く」ための耳作り”をされた方の、自分の本当の声に出会うアドバンスコースとも言えます。
受信体としての身体を認識する
“聴くことによって初めて再生できる”すなわち、よりよい受信体〔アンテナ〕であり、かつ発信体〔よい良い声を発する楽器、共鳴体〕である私たちの“身体”がとても重要になってきます。そこでCAVでは、“世界にひとつしかないすばらしい楽器”となるべく、身体への意識を高めます。知らないうちに日ごろの疲れや感情をためこんでしまっている身体をほぐし、開放していくトマティス体操があります。少しづつ深い呼吸とリラックスを私たちの体に取り戻します。
そして“聴き取りの姿勢”を学びます。“聴き取りの姿勢”の見本はまさに大仏様や観音様の姿勢です。
耳を静かに澄ましている、感じがしませんか。
①良い姿勢、②深い呼吸、③リラックスが良い発声の３大条件です。
響きを感じる
私たちが日ごろ聞く音の中で、快と不快を分けるものは何でしょうか。
それは響きがあるかどうかです。違う言い方をすれば、"余韻"かもしれません。今、お寺の鐘の音を想像してみてください。鐘が撞かれた後の遠くまでいつまでも響き渡る余韻です。もしあの余韻がなければ、正岡子規のあの有名な俳句も生まれていなかったことでしょう。また楽器でも、弾かれた、打たれた、息を吹き込まれた後に生まれる響きの部分に私たちはうっとりさせられます。声もしかりです。
究極の響きのない声は、「ワレワレハ、ウチュウジンデアル・・・」といったような人工の声ですね。
良い姿勢で身体がゆるんでいれば、声帯が背骨を振動させて、良い響きを伴った声がでます。
CAVでは、この響きを“感じる”ための骨導ハミングを学びます。はじめは口を閉じて行います。口を閉じているのに、音が聞こえる。そしてどこから音がしているのか音源が全くわからない。この骨導ハミングはとてもおだやかで、空間を静かに優しく充満していく感じです。初めて聴く人は、この不思議に驚きます。
この優しい響きが身体の中にあることを、充分に感じ、認識することが良い発声の第１歩です。
母音の発声
次に発声の基本となるのは、母音です。トマティス博士がこの重要性に気づいたのは、有名なオペラ歌手が、毎日何時間も母音の練習をし続けたことを知ったことからです。
ここで、名高いスポーツ選手を誰か想像してみてください。どんなスポーツであっても、名手といわれる人は、無駄のない効率の良い動きと、美しいフォルムを持っています。楽器の演奏家もそうです。体や手の動きのなんと美しいことか。まるで流れるようです。
無駄の動きがないこと、フォルムが美しいこと、は万事に共通しています。そうです、発声も同じです。
それぞれの母音の違いは、舌の位置の違いによって生まれます。口や舌を無駄に大きく動かすと、音はバラバラ、共有の響きはありません。ここではそれぞれの母音の舌の位置を明確にし、常に骨導ハミングを感じながら母音を発声することを学びます。響きはいつも忘れずに・・・。
音は立体である。音による距離感を学ぶ
無駄のない省エネの音声のつくり方を学んだ後は、次は息の流れです。相手に伝わる声にするには、息の流れを意識していることが大切です。響き（骨導ハミング）は空間全体を満たし、息の流れは方向性を与える、といった感じでしょうか。届けたい位置を自分の体を始点に把握し、そこに向けて息の上に音を載せて伝播していくイメージ。「出す」ではなく「流す」です。力はいりません。
